Carla Wilson Band

Carla Wilson (Lead Vocals/Acoustic Guitar)

Carla has been singing since she was three years old. Growing up in the small town of Maysville, Kentucky, Carla followed her heart and answered the call of music. With the support of her parents and producer at Trails End Records an independent label, Carla recorded her first of five singles.

When Carla’s Single (Going through the Motions) reached the ears of Norro Wilson of RCA, Norro asked Carla to come to Nashville to continue her education at Belmont College alongside country hopefuls Tricia Yearwood and Tim Dubois prior to his launch of Arista Records. Carla earned her degree in Music Business Management while working part time and singing every chance she could on demo projects such as the State Farm jingle.

Spending every moment pursuing her career, Carla began singing demos for Polyfox Studios where her demos were marketed to The Judd’s and icons like Brenda Lee. Carla later met Brenda’s producer Andy Courtney who encouraged her to stay in the business and pay her dues. In 1986, Carla suffered a personal tragedy with the loss of a dear friend that stalled her career and led her to North Carolina to discover who she was and who she wanted to be while needing time to heal.

Carla left Nashville and the music business behind for a fresh start. In 1987 Carla moved to Durham, North Carolina where she met her husband Steve who manages and plays bass with the Carla Wilson Band. After taking some time off to start a family, Carla decided to return to her roots of country music and classic rock. Today Carla is back Carla is back with a rock ‘n sound that thrills audiences of all ages. Carla influences range from Emmylou Harris and JoDee Messina to Lee Ann Womack and rockers like Pat Benatar and Wynonna.
