Jim Underwood (Guitar/Fiddle/Vocals)

Jim is from west Texas and he started playing guitar at the age of 14. He and his band played at high school dances and local events.  He was in the Marine Corps in San Diego, CA where he met and married his wife, Myrna.  Together they formed the band White Lightening Express.  They performed at area military bases and local night clubs in and around San Diego and southern California. They were also an attraction at the annual Cattle Call rodeo in Brawley, California.

Jim and Myrna also owned a country night club and restaurant, Oakvale Lodge, in Escondido California for 5 years where White Lightening Express was the house band and even performed the Kasbah Lounge in the Sahara Casino in Las Vegas. They opened for such groups as The Bellamy Brothers and Bobby Bare. They also played with some top musicians such as Joe and Rose Lee Maphis, Wynn Stewart, David Frizzell and Doug Kershaw.

When Jim moved to Austin, Texas, he played in dance halls all over central Texas.  Later, he and his wife moved to her hometown of Fayetteville, NC and they currently reside there.
